GEOPOEMS
The Geopoem Series creates a biographical narrative through space and relocation, instead of presenting a narrative based on a chronology of events developing through time. The series converges philosophical searching, creative process and data by merging diagrams, visual poetry, sound, geolocation systems, and Haiku.
Coordinates of biographical data are used to create personal cartographies. In the geopoems, life and art converge to reveal the background, priorities, influences, and patterns of the development of my existence in the space. The use of coordinates replacing poetry verses is indicative that the poetry will be found in the places I refer to, and not in the subjectivity of my perception about these places. Each geopoem is a map, pointing to the locations where sets of experiences occurred. Diagrams of coordinates created over a Mercator map define the visual flow of my writing on each geopoem.
In The Geopoem Series life is fully taken as part of the oeuvre, inviting viewers to unveil and reflect upon the poetry implicit on their own biography.
